“a shocker of a hotel ”
This hotel is a dreadful dump and should be closed down. Described as the "worst hotel in havana" by a tourist official I talked to. The rooms are like prison cells, the water hardly trickles out of the shower, and there's no hot water. The lobby is a noisy free-for-all gathering place for locals in a dodgy street. They charge for use of safety deposit boxes which is like charging for coat hangers in the cupboard (if there were any). Also charge for luggage storage. Impossible to sleep at night with street noise, air conditioners and lobby activity. It's cheap and close to Old Havana. That's all you can say.

“Nice cheap hotel”
The price for value is good. The hotel is cheap and simple, there was everything what we needed for our short stay in la habama. A simple breakfeast with a great view from the rooftop is includet. Nice place for only little money.

“Cheap but still bad value for the money ”
The best thing about the hotel is the location - it is centrally located a short walk from lots of sights and attractions. Unfortunately, that is the only thing the hotel is good for. A poor first impression was made by the rude and unhelpful receptionist who couldn't muster up a smile or a even an 'hola' when we went to check in. The rooms were basic but very clean, but in the two separate rooms that we stayed, the taps didn't work, the shower didn't work, and the toilet didn't work in the first room. Also, the locks on the doors a really dodgy and didn't feel very safe. The walls are incredibly thin, and due to the location of the hotel, it is very noisy all night. Having stayed both in the hotel and a case particular for a third of the price, I would not recommend anyone to stay here, even on a budget.

“run down hotel but centrally located... ”
i stayed here 3 times for a total of 37 nights. had only 3 or 4 hot showers & the food sucked. i always went out for every meal. the reception is nice & security was okay. i'm also a big guy covered in tattoos so no one bothered me & i had no issues with missing items in my room. i had a bad door & they switched me immediately. i stayed on the 1st floor, 2nd floor & 4th floors when i was there. the 4th floor with the balcony was good but still no hot water & i also ran out of water a few times but they truck it in daily. let's just say it's close to everything, you get a taste of what cuban life really is like & it's a single man's haven but it is a dump!

“Not what expected! ”
We stayed at this hotel per recommendation in lonely planet. It was cheap so can't complain about that. The place was noisy in the day because of remodeling on one of the floors. At night we could hear all kinds of door slams and people. We were expecting a backpacker's hotel but it was mostly Cubans. Showers had warm water if lucky, our door had signs of being opened with credit cards a few dozen times. Didn't feel safe at night. We left after the first night to a Casa Particular which was way better and cost the same. The bartender was nice!

“Cheap, not so cheeful ”
Great place to meet fellow travellers, location is fine. Rooms were ok, i got one with a balcony which came in very handy with the power cuts as those without are basically in the dark, showers werent exactly powerful if you could consider it a shower at all.. Breakfast was ok, met other travellers who mentioned a lot of prostitutes gathering in the lobby of an evening time. For backpackers, who dont expect much, its ok, if you want a little more comfort go to a Casa

“Rooftop breakfast was nice ”
This hotel is only a couple blocks from the centre square.It included breakfast on a beautiful open roof top overlooking old Havana.Loved this! The room itself was less then desirable.Small,musty with a window facing a brick wall and no hot water.The elevator was broken,we stayed on the 4th floor. If you are looking for basic accommodations for sleeping and a place to store your bags while you are out exploring Havana, then look no further. Price was right and it was perfect for what we needed.

“Reception staff terrible, cold shower, dirty rooms ”
Worst hotel I've stayed in. Better to get a casa particular with friendly staff than this. Staff were horrible to us because we were black. Other black guests also complained to us at how horrible staff had been to them compared to other tourists. One cleaner sat on our bed when my partner & I were trying to have a conversation, sent by the receptionist. The rooms look nothing like the pictures ive seen, purportedly on the net. I'd booked 3 nights & I left after 2, just to get out of the bad atmosphere . The service doesnt reflect cuba at all. I've stayed in the 5 star Parque Centrale, Hotel National & $10 cuc per night casas & anywhere I stayed was better with more friendly welcoming staff than this. Nearly ruined my holiday until I moved to a casa. Not worth the approx £20-30 per night I paid.

“The best way to see real Cuba”
Well, I was in Cuba for the fist time with my friend in November, 8, 2010, it was my birthday. When we arrived at the Havana International Airport we didn't know where to find an accommodation. I speak Spanish and I said a taxi driver that we would like to find one somewhere in the center of the city of Havana and by chance we find ourselves right in the Lido Hotel. The first thing that impressed us was their price, 35 CUC per double room per night with breakfast. 1CUC is approximately equal to 1 USD. We have finished my birthday party and went to sleep. I got up at 5 o'clock o so the next day because of a cock singning!!!! Fortunately, it was the only drawback of the location. I went on the balcony and...on the right I saw the building of Capitolio WAW we're right in the centre! A bit later my friend and I went to have a breakfast. The hotel's restaurant is located on the roof of the building. So, you have terrific views of the city from there! Than we went to sightseeing. The location was so perfect that all the places of interest in the old town and central town are within easy walking distance from the Lido Hotel !!! I thoroughly recommend this hotel to you. “You get what you pay for ”
The Lido is not the best hotel in Havana for sure, the showers are pretty bad, the breakfast is average at best, served by disinterested staff, and the rooms are a bit rough around the edges but on the other hand it is in Habana Centro which couldn't be a better location. I arrived late from the airport so after one beer I collapsed into bed. To wake the following morning with the sound of salsa coming from next door and to look over the crumbling city from the roof terrace really gave me the feeling of being in Havana, I did avoid the scrambled eggs though. There are many better hotels in the city but they are overpriced and full of the usual tourist stuff and are far removed from the reality of life in Havana. I quite liked the more gritty aspects of this place and as it caters to locals as well as tourists you might actually get to meet some Cubans! It is a 10 minute walk to the Malecon, not much more to Habana Veija. The streets around this area are great to wander and though they are dark at night due to the lack of street lighting I never felt treatened or unsafe. For what you get it is good value.

“To Avoid! ”
The hotel (even if it would rather be called hoStel) is well located, even if the street is kind of scary. The rooms are dirty, no curtains, actually no windows so that you hear everything outside (like the back neighbour who listens to salsa on his terrace all night long), the mattresses are certainly 20/30 years old. The breakfast is disgusting BUT I must admit that it's served on the building terrace and you have a wonderful sight on the city. The team of the hotel is not welcoming at all.

“Not enough words but I'll go with "Truly awful hotel" ”
Where do I start?! We arrived at Hotel Lido for our last night in Havana before leaving for the UK the following day. As we approached the hotel, I did say to my friend that it looked dodgy but then most places in Havana look a little bit run down and we'd felt so safe for all our trip, we thought we'd be fine. We checked in and went up to our room which was dark and dingy owing to the window looking out onto a concrete wall and the lightbulbs barely functioning. There was damp on the walls and no hot water running in the smallest shower in the world. However, it was just for one night so we thought we'd make do. We left for our last night out in Cuba only to return around 10 minutes later as i'd forgetten something which is when we discovered that in that time, someone had got into our room through the window and stolen our handbags from the bed as well as a number of other items. We notified the hotel receptionist and security guard who were not only reluctant to help us as they didn't want the police at their hotel (presumably the security guard thought his job would be on the line) but were just plain rude and unbelievably accused us of having made the theft up in front of the police. Not once did we receive an apology from the hotel staff and they made an incredibly difficult situation a lot worse. The following morning, the hotel manager met us and told us at the very least we didn't have to pay for our night's accommodation, only to be told when we checked out that this was not the case and they would still need to pay. We just walked out. I strongly advise against staying in this hotel, yes its cheap but you can find far nicer accommodation for the same price in a casa particular.

“Better stay in casa particular ”
We stayed at this hotel just for one night as soon as we arrived in Havana. A taxi from the airport took us about 20 minutes to get from there to the hotel. We paid 25 CUC for it but my advice is try to make te price lower, 25 CUC is too much, we just didn't know that but by the end of our trip we realised that a reasonable price for a ride from the airport to Habana Vieja (Old Havana region) is 10 CUC, that's how much we paid when we were leaving. About the hotel..To some people it might seem inconvenient and scary to arrive and start looking for a casa particular right away, but it is a right decision to take, the hotels are more expensive and the quality in some of them isn't worth paying money. Lido hotel cost us 46 CUC for 2 people for 1 night, we got a room which had a very little window, that's why was very dark. There were no hot water in this hotel and that's what you need first after a 8-hour flight. The best thing about Lido hotel is the restaurant which is located on the roof and the view from there is breathtaking. The restaurant offered 2 types of breakfast: omellet or a sandwich, juice or tea, toasts with butter. In short words, this hotel is just OK for one night to spend but if I come to Cuba for the second time, I would definately go for a casa particular starting from the very first day of the trip. There are nice ones just a few steps from Lido hotel, the price is 25-35 CUC depending on the location.

“Good locattion great price. ”

Same service great staff beutiful location only one difference between both hotels my brother is spending more money and I saved money. “Good location, awfull hotel. ”
This hotel should be closed down. The rooms are like prison cells, the better room's are the one's with balcony. There's no hot water and the shower is terrible. Impossible to sleep at night & day with street noise, air conditioners(very loud) and lobby activity. It's very cheap and close to Old Havana. The rooftop restaurant was a the only thing nice about this hotel. They offer juice, sandwiches and omelets as part of the room price.

“Value - Price = excellent ! +++ Location, location, location.”
I stayed at the Lido 1 yr ago - for 3 nights and will stay again I like in particular the excellent location in addition to decent food and accomodation - the realistic price - Leistungsverhaeltnis , the staff was friendly and helpful ; there is a clean roof top patio serving well prepared large breakfast made to order, I occupied a top floor, clean balcony room and slept like a log after exploring an enthralling city; major attractions are w/i a short walking distance or a quick 'egg-ride-taxi' to live theatres - . I can't recall shower water/pressure/temperature - nonetheless, coped 2x per day with given .... and survived !

“Excellent value for money and very Cuban ”
Ok, i'll be honest, the shower was terrible (cold and no pressure), the breakfast slightly dodgey (but unmistakably Cuban!) and the rooms are definitely a bit scruffy around the edges but bear in mind that this is the cheapest hotel in Havana. It is also worth noting that Islazul hotels are the only ones that cater to Cubans as well as to tourists so you get a much more authentically Cuban experience if you elect to stay with them. It is unfair to compare the Lido with other more expensive hotels, at this price it is only right to compare the Lido with privately rented rooms. At the Lido you get: Excellent airconditioning, sky TV and ensuite bathroom. At a casa particular you get: Hot water and the opportunity to mix with a local family. The choice is yours! N.B If you want luxury don't stay here, but then again if you want bourgeois luxury, what business have you got heading off to Cuba? Maybe Dubai would be a better option....

“Good budget hotel in Old Havana ”
We stayed two nights at the Lido on an excursion from Varadero. The price was $36 U.S. per night for a double room with 2 standard sized beds. A balcony room would have cost an extra $5. Instead, we had a window with a view of the wall of the building next door, about a foot away. The room was small but didn't feel crowded due to the high ceiling. It had a TV, phone, air conditioning that was noisy but effective, chair, closet, and a safety deposit box (extra cost). The pillows seemed to be filled with lumpy chunks of foam, but were usable. The bathroom had a sink, mirror, toilet and shower. The toilet in our room did not have a seat, although the one in the room next door did. Other reviews suggested this hotel had only cold water in the past but I am happy to report there was plenty of hot water. The shower stall was long, but was so narrow that it was easier to stand sideways facing the curtain. There were two small towels provided. The floor tiles in the bathroom were nice, but not in the bedroom. The floor never seemed clean, so we wore our shoes at all times. The hotel is conveniently located between Old Havana and Central Havana, one block from the Prado and close to Central Park. It was easy to walk to all our destinations, even Vedado. It is one of the few hotels that is not facing a heavy traffic street. However, the neighborhood roosters begin crowing at 4:00 a.m. and continue until at least 8:00 a.m. Ear plugs are suggested for light sleepers. There is an elevator and a staircase for accessing your room. The lobby has a tour desk and a small bar. Behind the elevator is a door leading to a public bathroom, and to a storage tank of drinking water from which we filled the thermos jug that came with the room. The staff all seemed to speak some English, though some were better than others. Most of the customers seemed to be the young back-packer type. Although the front desk displayed the sign saying they accepted payment by Visa credit cards, their equipment wasn't working and we had to pay cash. The restaurant is located on the roof and is outdoors. It is on the fifth floor, but it is really the sixth since the first floor is one level up from the lobby. Breakfast is included in the room price. It consists of either eggs or a sandwich, juice, fruit, a bun, and your choice of milk or tea. We also ate dinner there. The menu is only somewhat useful since many of the items we asked for were not available. In spanish they say "No hay" (pronounced No eye), which means there isn't any. The soup of the day was very good, and was only $1. Spaghetti with tomato sauce and cheese was $1.20. The vegetarian sandwich was $1. Meals with meat had higher prices. Pizza was around $2 and up. The most expensive items were in the $4 to $5 range. Everyone should eat here at least once just for the view. The panoramic view of old Havana is thrilling and upsetting at the same time. From the rooftops the city appears to have been the victim of a long wartime bombing campaign. Out of the ashes rises the occasional luxury hotel, such as the Sevilla and Park Central. Beside the hotel is an old building with some missing walls. The front door of one apartment opens up into open space. It is accessed by a ladder! Many of the top floor apartments have been abandoned because of missing roofs and walls. The Vedado area is a much nicer neighborhood to stay in for people who can't stand to see poverty. We had arrived in Havana by Viazul bus for $10 each from Varadero. We got off at the first stop in Old Havana. We went to the central bus station for the return trip and discovered it is not the Viazul station. There is a travel agency there that tried to book the bus for us, but it was full. The pleasant and helpful man there arranged for us to take a shared taxi, waiting just outside the bus depot. It cost $15 per person for three people, and there was already one person ready, so off we went. The return trip took less than 2 hours compared to 3 hours for the bus, which makes several stops along the way.

“Not good, not bad either ”
This hotel is not a budget option - 45 CUC per night for a double is not a bargain, considering what you are paying for. The rooms are good enough, with windows impossible to open, whcih doesn't make this a safe place in case of fire. Breakfast is included, but it's the usual stuff you get all over Cuba; omelets, thick strawberry juice and sweet sandwiches. The location is excellent, though, and the rooms are clean enough. All in all; staying at a casa particular would be much better value.

“Remember where you are going..... ”
I have lived in West Africa and have stayed in some shady places. I had these experiences in mind when I decided to travel to Cuba. The accommodations here are not extravagant by any means, but they offer more than the typical Cuban has access to. The neighborhood seemed safe and if you walk just south of the hotel there is a cool local bar and store to buy water, etc. The water was warm in the shower. CNN, HBO and other US channels available on the TV. The rooftop restaurant was a great place to start the morning and offered juice, sandwiches and omelets as part of the room price. The location is AWESOME and well worth the money.

“Well located budget hotel ”
I stayed at the Lido twice in November 2009. It is a good budget hotel, and I think its best selling point is its location. It is within the cheaper area of Centro Havana, however only one block back from the Prado and the entry to Habana Vieja (old Havana) Both rooms were clean; however the first room had a broken air conditioner, and don't expect to get hot water - its really the luck of the draw. I had cold water all five nights, though my husband said he got warmish water a few mornings. Breakfast was included and fairly good; book early because it is often booked out. If you are desperate for hot water a safer bet would be a casa particular, but if ou don't mind that it has a lot of other things to offer (the 24 gour bar downstairs is a bonus, and the dinner from the restaurant on 5th floor was good - fish is usually a good bet in Cuba)

“Very poor rooms but not all bad ”
The hotel is in a very run down area and some of the rooms are just awful. We asked to be moved and the second room was much better altough the " dressing table" collapsed onto then shin of OH badly bruisng it. The lobby bar is friendly and welcoming and the rooftop bar where breakfast is served is quite nice and the views are great. Generally the property is very poorly maintained. although the area is run down we did not feel theeatened and it was nice to be able to walk to all the major sights inthe city

“Fantastic location, not so fantastic hotel.”
We found the hotel Lido after trying the other rather more upmarket hotels on the square, such as the Telegrafano and the Plaza. We soon found that our price range was firmly in the Lido class at $36. It is only one street behind the Prado and is a fantastic location. If you have read the previous reviews i can't argue with any of the comments. My wife and i had room 414 after a climb, ( lift out of operation) it was just as we expected for the price. The room itself was tiny and the airconditioning unit hummed along merrily but did absolutlely nothing. The sheets were clean however. My wife attempted to wash her hair and the cold water stopped after five minutes so she just laughed and tied it back before going out for the evening. We have been fortunate to travel round the world on a budget and expect the unexpected. We have had a "room" in Langkawi on the beach that was constructed from old kitchen worktops and looked like an igloo, thats the type of accomodation for fun. So for my wife and i the hotel Lido was like an old friend, a tired old friend but a welcome one. The next morning it was my turn to have no water so we had a slow breakfast and after that the water was back on, cold anyway. Take the horse and carriage tour from the guys hanging around at the end of the Prado. It's not a rip off and for 20 CUC these guys are really informative and give you the same as the walking tour in the Lonely Planet. If you want cheap eats go to the opposite side of the Capitol building and there you will find a meal for 10 CUC. You may sense this is a negative review but it's not. As other people have commented, get out into Havana and enjoy!

“big room noisy but right in the action ”
big room on to a small balcony (doors very high a trick to opening the doors) room 401. cafateria served a very nice breakfast (very attentive staff) hotel is very near the capitol building be warned 24 hour partys about so be very tired when you want to sleep. great central spot very good price euro $19 top staff just a bit noisy if you plan to sleep before the early hours

“Bedbug City ”
We booked the Lido online. We could have booked other hotels in the $100 range but we decided to take the chance since it is cheap in a good location. Plus, the reviews weren't totally awful. The Lido is only a few blocks away from the Capitolio and Parque Central on a side street (which is rundown but not as scary as first appears.) When we arrived at the Lido we were so tired that the constant noise, smells, and awful bathroom were not enough to send us away. Then we looked inside the sheets. Bedbugs everywhere. Don't be tempted by the cheap price and location.

“Habana on the Cheap ”
The Lido is cheap...you can see much nicer hotels from your room, but for the money it can't be beat. I paid about $39.00CDN (online booking) but could have done better if I had called the Hotel and booked. The staff are friendly and helpful, english is basic; much better than my Spanish. Basic breakfast is included...the coffee is good; avoid the milk, unless you like canned. the toast is stone cold and the restaurant can be very breazy in the morning. There are lots of people just staying one or two nights, so the breakfast crowd is always changing. The location is one block off the Prada, and the street is very noisy; The girl across the street still practices her sax at night; a real bonus. The rooms facing the street are decent, not big, the AC is noisy; but not required in Jan/Feb; THE HOT WATER: comes from the roof, if it was sunny yesterday, and your up early..lots of hot water The hotel is centrally located, everything is within walking distance. The street is a real adventure, Cubans are curious, but harmless; and display basic humanity that has gone missing from Norh American Culture. There is a cop on every second corner, and they make sure nobody bothers the touristas. Don't discuss politics unless you want to meet cops...Old Havana is being rebuilt..go now while its cheap, Central Havana is broken... Miramar is fine but expensive. Enjoy Cuba now, Fidel is old, and change is inevitable.

“Definitely a budget hotel ”
We were put here because the hotel booked for the start of our tour - The Telegrafo - was double booked. The Lido was very basic and we had an interesting group of insects in our bathroom. They had made their home in the rotten wood of the door frame, so at least they were happy. The room was small and no frills at all. It was fortunate that we stayed there on our first night in Cuba - we were so exhausted that we would have slept through virtually anything. As there was no glass in one of the openings in the room, we would have been kept awake by the sound of dogs, babies and various other inner-city noises. The shower would not stop after being turned on. Despite repeated requests for the hotel staff to fix it, it was still going when we left the next day. Maybe it was because this happened on a Sunday. Breakfast could be a highlight if you are not keen on eating much in the morning, as it is taken on the 'roof terrace' overlooking Havana. However, the view is not the best in the city. The Lido is not too far from the centre of Havana and could be a viable option for those not looking for too much from a hotel. Personally, we were extremely glad to be leaving, but this may have been because we had been expecting a 4-star hotel and ended up in a budget one!

“Definately NO FRILLS ”
If you stay here be sure to ask for a room with balcony facing outward. Arrived and put into dungeon style room that smelt like a sewer. Asked to be moved and after paying extra got a room with a balcony facing onto the street which was much better. Although left by mistake a wash bag with medicine behind and went back a couple of hours later after housekeeping - It had vanished into thin air. A row between the front desk and housekeeping ensued, I don't speak Spanish but got the impression it was not the first time something of this nature happened... Staff not overly friendly generally. Cheap but definately no FRILLS

“cheap as chips ”
the lido is basic with a capital B, but its cheap and cheerful. if you want big rooms, hot water and air conditioning that makes no noise dont book this hotel. its on a very noisy side street off the prado, you can walk past it without noticing and have i mentioned it has no hot water..but if you want cheap, safe and friendly staff..if you can get them off the phone to their mates, then this is for you. its a budget option and is a bit of a bargain...there are beer machines on the streets just round the corner, as there is no fridge, the girl opposite can really play that sax, and you can view the pigeons kept by the guys on the roof across the street. if you want all comforts and expect american or european standards, then dont book this. if you want a bit of an adventure on a shoestring then go for it. its good for the price and the staff are great. i love the lido, but if you can afford something a bit better then its probabably worth paying more. i didnt care when i was younger...but now i like a bit more luxury..

“Smelly, Dirty and Unreliable water supply”
The hotel is worse than other budget hotels I have stayed in -- For US$40/night in Havana we expected something more than what we got -- 1) The sheets and blankets were stained and they were not changed at all during our 4-night stay. (We hope the sheets were fresh when we checked in -- fingers crossed.) 2) Hot water was not available for 2 of the 4 nights we spent there but thankfully Havana was warm enough at that time for cold showers. 3) There was no water for 2 mornings. 4) The room smells like sewage.

“In the middle of a museum ”
The hotel is located in the deep downtown of Havana. It's really cheap (we paid around 25 euros per night in a double room) and the conditions are those which the price indicates. Some rooms have no hot water and people need to move to other rooms. The landscape in the breakfast terrace is fantastic. Dinner is not bad and is the cheapest we found in Havana. Capitolio is only 10 min walking, as well as other nice locations. About survivance in Havana, I advise to ask for a guide.

“A bit grim ”
The Lido was among the cheapest hotels in Havana, which is why I went for it. And in its case you certainly get what you pay for. It was a bit grim. The bedroom looked grotty and the bathroom was the size of a closet. On the first night there was NO WATER and then it was cold for the next two days, but cold water's common for Cuban hotels. The reception staff were not very helpful generally and claimed that I had no booking for the third night, despite the fact that I had booked it online and had the print out with me. (Make sure you print out all your bookings before you get to Cuba because the hotels insist on seeing them, and NONE of the internet cafes allow you to print stuff out!!!) On the plus side, the Lido is within 5-10minute walk of most things you'd want to see in Havana, so if you're just looking for a place to sleep while you explore the city, it will do - but I think a casa particular would be a better bet. I stayed in a really nice one on my last night in Havana. It was half the price of one night at the Lido, and it was much more pleasant: bigger room, hot water, friendly hosts. So, if I had my time again in Havana, I wouldn't have bothered with the Lido. Wherever you stay, though, you'll love Havana. it's a really vibrant city and the people are very friendly - but they're always asking you to buy stuff from them or for them.

“Decent hotel and really cheap ”
Choosing how many rating-circles to color above is kind of diffucult with this hotel. I gave it an above average rating but only because of the price. The thing is, that this is the cheapest hotel in Havana. I stayed there twice, and I like it, even though it is...um...not exactly a nice hotel. I paid $21 per night when I went alone and less that that when I went with a friend and we split the cost for a double with a balcony. The rooms with a balcony are worth the extra $$ as the room I had without a balcony felt a little prison like, not because of it's size but because of the lack of light. I am glad to hear that there is now hot water, as when I stayed there, there was not. I too, did not have a toilet seat, but this is common in Cuba and have since, become acostomed to it. The rooms are sparce but clean. They have a TV, phone and air conditioning. The front door to the hotel is locked at night but there is always someone right there to unlock it as soon as you get back from your night out. There is a small bar on the main level and as the other reviewer wrote, there is restaurant on the roof of the 6th floor. Well maybe restaurant isn't exactly the right word, but food is served. Also, I had an emergency situation where I had no money and needed to call home to the US and the woman at the front desk let me use the hotel phone to contact my family. It's not because they were worried about getting their money, as the room was already paid for, so I was very greatful for that. If I need a hotel in Havana again, I will definately stay here again. While in Cuba, don't worry about how nice your hotel room is, or is not, as you should be out experiencing all that Cuba has to offer and be spending as little time as possible in your hotel!

This hotel recently changed hands and you can tell. They are renovating the rooms one by one. I had a room with two single beds, a toilet with a toilet seat (!!) and toilet paper, AC, satellite TV with about 30 channels, cold water showers (they've never had hot water, despite what the other reviewer states), towels & mini-soap provided, breakfast included up on the 5th floor. I kept the 'do not moleste me' sign up the whole time to avoid any problems or questions of theft, etc. They respected the sign the entire stay. The staff was very friendly and English speaking. There is a security/doorman present at all times. The location is perfect if you want to be in Old Havana. Just be sure you really want to be in Old Havana. The only hiccups were on my last days when we had no water 1 day and the elevator stopped working my last 2 days. But my only real concern was the mold growing on the walls...not so sure that's the healthiest of situations.

Bad
Because of its location, it is an open door to the charms of Old Havana. A short walk will take guests to the Gran Teatro de La Habana (Havana’s Grand Theater), the Museo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Museum) and other centers of historic and cultural interest. It is a very welcoming hotel, appropriate for single tourists. Havana's "José Martí" International Airport is 9.3 miles away.
