Description Areas of Natural Interest: Topes de Collante Nature Park, Sancti Spiritus. Cuba
This paradise of natural beauty, of great botanical and ecological interest, is around 19 km. (12 miles) from Trinidad, and 800 meters (2,625 feet) above sea level, in the heart of the Escambray Mountain Range.,
It covers an area of 12,494 hectares and contains many endemic species of flora and fauna. Most of the flora is perennial, because there is plenty of rain. Here, you can see numerous species of orchids, moss, lichens, tree ferns, and pine and eucalyptus forests. In addition, there are many birds and invertebrates. Go out on trails to see the local flora and fauna, swim in natural pools and waterfalls, and explore any of its several caves. -

Cuba Sancti Spiritus Cuba The settlement of Espiritu Santo-now Sancti Spiritus-is the birthplace of troubadours and one of the Cuban cities where it is easiest to enjoy Nature. It is in the center of the island, near Lake Zaza, important tobacco-growing areas and the mountains.
Its symbol is the Yayabo Bridge, which spans the Yayabo River, on whose banks the old city sprawls. From the bridge, you can see lovely colonial mansions. The Parroquial Mayor (Main Parish) Church is the pride of the townspeople, for it is proof of the antiquity of the settlement-which became a city through royal decree in 1867. Strolling through the city streets, you will be enfolded in a sense of great peace.
Birthplace of troubadours: Songs written in Sancti Spiritus speak of a traditional musical spirit, which is particularly evident in the House of Music and Troubadours' House Cuba Sancti Spiritus Cuba.

As the second-biggest mountain range in Cuba, the Sierra del Escambray is brimming with outdoor attractions and activities, and stretches for more than 90 km / 56 miles in length, edging the provinces of Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus and Villa Clara. The Pico de San Juan is the tallest mountain here and measures in at just over 1,150 metres / 3,773 feet high, with its peaceful slopes boasting an abundance of wildlife. The Topes de Collantes is especially notable and this spreading national park encompasses the Parque Altiplano, the Parque Codina, the Parque el Cubano, the Parque Guanayara and El Nicho. There are three hotels within the Parque Nacional Topes de Collantes, together with plenty of hiking opportunities, such as the Blue Riband, the Sendero Los Helechos and the Sendero Jardin Gigante trails. -

This stunning nature park, a few kilometres to the south-east of Cienfuegos, is known for its jungle, mountains and waterfalls. The Gran Parque Natural Topes de Collantes makes a good escape from the city on hot days, with the Parque Altiplano being its most interesting facet and having the best facilities. The highest mountain is the Pico de San Juan (at 1,150 metres / 3,770 feet) and this can be hiked, while the Salto de Caburni Falls are particularly beautiful. There are separate charges for different parts of the park. -
